Sargassum Solutions for Renewable Energy
SarGas converts invasive Sargassum seaweed in the Caribbean into renewable biogas and biofertilizer, enabling the sustainable transformation of small island nations’ energy and agricultural systems, while generating revenue from the seaweed currently choking beaches and damaging ecosystems throughout the region.
Our Vision
SarGas envisions leading Sargassum solutions through innovative biogas digesters turning the problem into renewable biogas and eco-friendly biofertilizers. The Caribbean energy sector, with high electricity costs and significant carbon emissions, offers a promising business case for generating electricity from biogas. We offer a plannable and stable renewable energy source that will be needed in the future energy mix with more intermittent energy. Starting with Grenada, we aim to establish our sustainable technology throughout the Caribbean and other areas affected by Sargassum. Our goal is to within five years have installed 20 MW of renewable electricity production throughout the region, which will abate 1.2 million tons of CO2-equivalents annually. Our commitment to reducing environmental impact while promoting resource efficiency and energy sustainability is at the heart of our mission.
